Just go down to the village and hang out. There are several restaurants down there. I like Paradise Beach Grill, but haven't been there for awhile.

Shadowbrook is always classic romantic.

For not expensive, buy your own food and drinks and take beach chairs or blankets to the beach to watch or participate in the beach volleyball.

I used to enjoy surf fishing at Capitola, Sea Cliff, Moss Landing beaches, etc...

Shadowbrook, wonderful as it may be, hardly qualifies as "not expensive." If you can swing it, though, it's an unforgettable experience.

A friend and I were in Capitola in May and discovered a great, cheap Thai restaurant called My Thai. It's just a hole in the wall, basically, but the food is very well prepared and reasonably priced.
