Default Why are so many tech conferences held in SF and not in SJ (aka Silicon Valley)???

Lots of tech conferences are held in San Fran but it seems that San Jose being the "Silicon Valley" of where are these tech companies are, shouldn't it be held here?? What gives?

Small convention center. There are many held here, though, or else there wouldn't be so many hotels.

San Francisco has bigger facilities and more rooms, and it's frankly more appealing to out-of-town conference attendees, in terms of things to do after hours.

As someone who's held conferences in both locations, the turnout in SF was much higher.

SF is a more desirable end destination for people coming from out of town.

Even though my company is in San Jose, we have a tough time getting people to come to the forums we hold in San Jose.

Sad but true Krud. I remember when the Coast Guard told me they were sending me to San Jose. I was like "where the hell is that?."

Best place I've been yet.

Preferring San Francisco to San Jose doesn't make one "simple-minded."

Conferences are held in SF because SJ is a larger Campbell.

I liked living in my former hometown of San Jose, but I'd rather visit SF.
