Default Commute from Union City to Santa Cruz

Hi,

I have got a job offer at Santa Cruz. But I am located in Union City, CA.

I was wondering about my commuting options from Union City to Santa Cruz.

I am planning to drive. But considering the high gas prices, I am exploring other options as well.

Could someone throw some light on it?

Thanks for your assistance.

Uh.. 880 to 17. That's pretty much your option. I suppose you could take the Capitol Corridor and connect to the Highway 17 Express bus at the San Jose station, but that would take an eternity.. probably 3 hours each way with long waits between both the buses and the trains if you miss one.

I don't think that would take 3 hours.

For the most part, you will be going against the rush hour traffic into and out of Santa Cruz. So once you are south of the 101 on the 880, it should be an ok commute.

Long....winding road is the 17, but I work with 3-4 people that do the commute everyday from the airport area of San Jose.

Why not live in Santa Cruz?

Oh god, I wouldn't commute. Seriously.

Unless it's a matter that you own your home and can't afford SC home prices.
