Default NC -> Milpitas, Looking For Good Rents

Hi all, I start work with a new employer in Milpitas and am looking for a good area to rent. We were wondering if the Dixon Landing area (Mill Creek Apts) is an area where one can walk safely at night. If you have suggestions, I would like to find an area that supports 900+ sq. ft. apts w/ 2 brs for under $1800/month, where we can get to I-5 without having to drive over an hour to get there, has areas where we can safely walk and bike... you catch the drift. Oh, and not take over an hour to get to work in Milpitas :-) Any help would be appreciated.

Price wise for appts you are in good shape. I'm not crazy about Milpitas myself. If you don't hit traffic, you could reach I 5 in 1 hour from Milpitas.
If you don't mind commuting to work and fighting traffic, Pleasanton where i live would be a great place. Very family oriented, cute downtown, and very safe. If you don't hit traffic Milpitas is about 20 to 30 minutes from Pleasanton going down 680. I had 2 houses in nice neighborhoods which were 3/2 and rented for $2000/mo last year, so 1800 for a townhouse or appt rental should be fine. I can reach I-5 in 25 to 30 minutes if there is no rush hour traffic.

The Milpitas/Fremont area hardly has ANY crime at all when you compare to other places. Be careful, Milpitas/ Dixon Landing area really smells in the summer time due to the land fill on the other side of 880
