Looking at apartmentratings.com, it scares me a bit that most of the apartment complexes have terrible, terrible reviews. San Jose Apartments for Rent with Ratings & Reviews by San Jose Renters at ApartmentRatings.com
I look at the city where I currently live for example (in So Cal) and there are some decent places, but it seems like in SJ, 95% are terrible and the other 5% are just bad. Has that been your experience? 2 places I'm looking at are Waterford Place and Willow Lake... |

I know I have been running into the same problem. Every rating I look at has a horrible rating, it's scary. I would ask around on this forum it has been very helpful to me.

Sometimes the ratings are merited, sometimes not. I visited one place in West San Jose that had floors that sounded like a bass drum - and that was a unit on the ground floor! I shudder to think how loud it would have been with someone inconsiderate on top of me. There are a lot of ramshackle and run-down apartment complexes in the Silicon Valley.

Yeah most affordable places here are crappy, I've been stuck in the same place for 2 years and can't find anything nicer that doesn't cost close to $1,800 a month. Right now I'm paying about 1,200 which means I have other issues to deal with in a run down older apartment with bad pipes, mold in the winter, and animals (rats?) climbing around in the walls. I also live on a busy street and have to deal with ambulance sirens every few hours, and police pulling over people who go on ramages right infront of my apartment. I am also from So Cal and want to go back as soon as possible. There is nothing good about this place unless you make a lot of money, maybe then it would be ok, but even then it would still be boring and everyone would still dress up to go shopping on friday and sat night as the big to do. San Jose is the most ridiculous place I have ever lived.

Do you hang out with high school girls or something? Stop blaming your surroundings for the life you hate. Then again, you admittedly pay out the ass for something you don't like. How can I expect you to grasp such concepts?

Don't be so defenside Krudmonk. There's a reason why people keep brining it up that San Jose and SV in general are so dull. There's some truth to it.

I also pointed out that his whining is stupid and pointless because he can obviously afford to live almost anywhere else. |

Just for fun, I purchased a sound level meter last week, and the noise of people walking around on the floor above can get over 65 decibels.
Wonderful noise to try to fall asleep to at 2 AM... I've already moved once because of nighttime noise, and I'll probably move again very soon. Career opportunities mean nothing if you can't sleep well enough to function either inside or outside of work. |
