Rose Garden Vs Willow Glen
Ok guys I really would like to know where would be better for couple in early 30ties and 2 preschool and elementary age kids. I would like to keep it as close to downtown SJ as possible at the same time I would like some life around the house and these 2 neighborhoods keep popping up. How about family friendly/kid friendly community? Also how big is Rose Garden when they refer to it? Is there some kind of downtown/center/plaza/spot to it? Is it including Cahill Park/Leo's, College Park, Alameda and Shasta-Hanchett Park? Or these r completely different neighborhoods with different feeling and culture to it? If so anybody tell me closer about those? Better, worse, borders? Thanx guys for answering my previous posts. Im still deciding which SJ part is for us

Willow Glen. The Rose Garden, as nice as it is, caters to a much, much older crowd. But be careful as some places get advertised as Willow Glen that are pretty much the 'hood (namely, right under the 280/87 interchange).

Like what sonarrat said above, both of thoseareas have a much older populace however they are arguable the nicest neighborhoods in the city. They are both friendly neighborhoods and would be great places to raise children. As for the questions related to rose garden, I'm not sure since I'm really not familiar with the area.
Overall I'd say Willow Glen is a little better for kids , just my poinion though.

I like both areas, but since you have kids I would say definitely Willow Glen!

I am the mother of a 3 year old and I belong to a large mothers group with kids the same age as my preschooler and younger. Most of the families live in Willow Glen. It is a VERY popular area for young families. In fact, besides my mothers group, most of my friends live in Willow Glen. The down side is the junior high and high school. However, the elementary schools are pretty good.
