sunnyvale/ Mt. View renting - areas to avoid
Hello all, Management raised my rent. So, I am in the rental market again. Looking to rent a 1BR apt in sunnyvale or mountain view with at least 750sqft. I am looking for something close to caltrain or near el camino. Any recommendations? Any areas that should be avoided? Thanks.

Who would raise rents in a recessionary environment? They've got to be complete idiots. What part of Sunnyvale are you living in now?
My sister rents an apartment in Sunnyvale at a place called Avalon Silicon Valley. Downside is that if you open the window, you'll have 101 and Lawrence Expressway noise in your home, but they're nicely decked out, and when I visited her I was very impressed with the construction quality and the amenities.

Thanks sonarrat. I am currently on W Evelyn and S Mary ( 1 mile west of sunnyvale caltrain ). I will check out Avalon though I am trying to stay towards the Mt View side of sunnyvale.

So you're not bothered by the train noise? There are a lot of private rentals along Evelyn in Sunnyvale and Mountain View that should charge lower rents than the big complexes. Quite a few apartment complexes on Easy St. in MV as well, my same sister rented a townhouse there once and she loved the convenience to the MV Caltrain station.

My apt is about 100-150 yards south of the tracks and I barely hear them.
BTW, How is the neighborhood between Bernardo and Acalenes north of El Camino and south of Evelyn?

You probably know better than I do, you currently live only about a block from there! The changes in character aren't that sudden in Sunnyvale. It's fairly homogeneous, except for the Lakehaven area which is a bit problematic. South of El Camino Real is generally considered better, but the apartments are older and creakier.

Just wanted to add...most of the complexes along Easy may not come with facilities like a pool or gym. But it will be a great location if you're seriously into biking, with excellent trails nearby
