Default Cheap transport from San Jose to SFO airport?

Anyone have any good recommendations on how I can get from San Jose to SFO airport without costing $150 to take a taxi/limo? I'd ask a friend, but I'm a bit shy

First, find your way to a Caltrain station. If you give me cross-streets from where you're starting I can work out a route, I know San Jose's bus system like the back of my hand.

Caltrain to Millbrae Station
BART to SFO (requires a transfer at San Bruno station)

Like 1st and Santa Clara St area? Take the 22 westbound to San Jose Diridon Station, or on a weekday, take the free DASH shuttle.

Try Super Shuttle....maybe like $35 each way in a shared van.

Last summer I used a car service to get to SFO (airport) because we were leaving very early in the morning. I was *shocked* at how much prices had gone up since the last time I used a service, 4-5 years ago. They wanted $150-$250!! I didn't need a limo, just somebody to drive me to the airport. Then I stumbled across "Wangs Limo" (which isn't a limo, it's a recent Toyota Sienna minivan) : Home Page

It was $80 from W San Jose to the airport. No extra fees or "surprises" (except for any tip I wish to give). He showed up early, the van was impeccably clean, he had a GPS nav system to find the best route (including traffic info) and was polite. Van had room for 4 people + luggage.

Yes, more expensive than CalTrain. But (1) a lot quicker (2) I was damn sure I wouldn't miss my flight (3) Caltrain wasn't an option at 5:30 AM.

Also more expensive than SuperShuttle, especially if you're by yourself. But there were 3 of us, and the price difference was only $20, I think, for door-to-door service. ($39 + $10 for each extra person). The funny thing is, you can get "an exclusive van" (just you in the van) from supershuttle, and it was more expensive than "Wangs Limo".

I usually book a towncar from near downtown San Jose to SFO, for $85 + tip. This is a lot more expensive than Super Shuttle. But it is certainly not as much as the previous poster mentioned for car service. $150 is the cost of a taxi from SFO to San Jose, which includes the 50% surcharge because of the SFO taxis.

I was going to say Caltrain to Bart to SFO (Does caltrain go to SFO directly?). I hadn't heard of DASH before, just seen them all over. What a great service!

Caltrain doesn't go to the airport. You can take Caltrain to Millbrae and change to BART that goes into the international terminal at SFO. At the airport, there is a free monorail tram that loops around the airport stopping at all the terminals and the car rental place.
