I am also confused - Santana Row and Willow Glen are San Jose, so how exactly do you compare San Jose to San Jose?
I did say neighborhoods. I meant the other neighborhoods siphoning off energy from downtown, and people wanting to go to these areas instead of downtown. I hope I'm clear with this now. San Jose's other neighborhoods taking businesses away from downtown.

That is clear, but I don't see why San Jose should only have one place to go...

Clearly San Jose has nowhere near as much going on as a place like say L.A. for example. Even in L.A. though, the downtown area has only somewhat recently started becoming more of a "destination". L.A. is even more spread out than S.J. and also has no central "hot spot". They're all over the city. Downtown S.J. has actually made large strides over the last few years. It's also nice to have other places throughout the city to hang out too though.

Think you are on to something there...

San jose now is very exciting: thriving downtown core, cool neighborhoods like Willow Glen and Alameda, and lots of recreations
