I think i've narrowed it down to Downtown San Jose over Mountain View...I've heard that the downtown area has been improving over the past few years and it seems like there are more choices for decent apartments over Sunnyvale or Mountain View. The only thing I'm concered about is my commute to either Santa Clara or Milpitas. I'm hoping it wont be over 45 mins to either location (please let me know if I'm wrong ). Thanks for all the feedback!

Yes, the SJ downtown area has been seeing plenty of new condos being built. Just over the weekend while riding my bike downtown I noticed another site that is being built. I would choose SJ over Mountain View.

The commute from downtown to Milpitas would be like 20 min or less (even with traffic) and the commute to Santa Clara would be the same. It's a great location to be. Highway 87 (which runs through downtown) just opened up a bunch of new lanes and will be opening more soon, so traffic is a piece of cake.

One last question...So I dont think I'm going to be living exactly in Japantown. How is the area Northwest of SJSU between 4th and 10th Streets? What area exactly is considered Japantown? Thanks!
