95138 is a lovely area but there aren't very many apartments in that ZIP itself, they focused on megamansions and high-grade townhouses.. as far as location, La Verona at Palma Sorrento would be perfect, just a couple minutes using surface streets to get to anywhere in 95138. I don't think there's a whole lot else in that area, but if you're relatively close to Blossom Hill Road, it's going to be an easy drive.

I'd probably stick around the Blossom Valley area in SJ if I were you (zip codes 95123/95136). It's an easy commute to the Evergreen area. I'd even consider 95118/95124/95120 (Cambrian Park/Almaden Valley) because you'd pretty much have a reverse commute. Sonorrat is right that you won't really find too many apartments in the 95138 zip code. That zip code is home to Silver Creek Valley Country Club and most of the area is filled with mini-mansions. I think Blossom Valley would be your best bet for finding a nice that's reasonably priced, safe and wouldn't have a terrible commute. Good luck!
