This is not a heavily Christian area (by that I mean, sort of conservative Christian). There are a lot of engineers here, a fair number of whom tend to be atheistic/agnostic in their outlook. Lots of non church goers as well. And many others of non-Christian faiths. But I'm sure you can find what you're looking for here in that regard. But you'll have to accept you'll be in the minority.

Unless you don't mind having roommates, I'd say you'll need to earn $40,000 or more per year to have a decent lifestyle here (I'm thinking a studio or 1BR apartment--nothing fancy). Wages are higher here, but usually don't make up for the higher cost of living (higher rent/higher taxes, etc.).

It is a pleasant area, with good weather & scenery, but is kind of dull for a big city. On the plus side, the crime rate is pretty low, even in the bad areas.

Not offended in the slightest. Merely amused that anyone would even begin to think of 51 as old. Goodness, 51 and single? What a great combo! Hope you find what you're looking for.
