Default Aquifer

Santa Fe City and County and one of the larger subdivisions have purchased additional water rights from the Rio Grande and will use that water to allow the aquifer to replenish. Other subdivisions that pump from the aquifer are subject to strict controls. In addition the city and county have controls on growth requiring developers to have sufficient water rights to support the development. Plus the pueblos within the county boundaries will have to purchase water rights for any of their development projects.

Finally, xeric gardening has caught on here more than most places.

Thus while you can't rule out water problems and the impact of drought -- Santa Fe City and County are much better off than most places in the southwest which simply pump from the acquifer, encourage unlimited growth, and don't worry about tomorrow.

kaadub is on a distinguished road
hi saleeme
I have been looking at the job market in Santa Fe also. I have noticed that the newspaper Santa Fe New Mexican on line will give you an idea
of the type of employement. Also being the state capitol there is opportunity there. I am sure local people will give you some other choices.
I am a single man and like you realize what a big step it is moving to a new area and you want to cover your bases to make sure your making the
right choice. Santa Fe has alot going for it from what i see and at 60 (next week anyway) I want to make this my last move.
