Thanks for the great info - where we live now we're used to coyotes but the snake potential concerned me alittle. I have our 4 year old labradoodle has the rattlesnake shot and I think it's a good idea to get the 11 month old Spinone vaccinated too. We walk the dogs all the time and the puppy can get really curious about new things he sees -
I saw two snakes the 8 years I lived in Eldorado. They are out there but my dogs never had problems although I tried not to let them run free--the lab would get out once in awhile. Now I live in the southwest area in the city and have never seen a snake here --only skunks and prairie dogs. One spring I did see a baby snake poking it's head up in the cracks of the sidewalk at Galisteo and Water near the plaza. It was next to the river. I found it amusing that people were walking over it and didn't know it was there.
So so wrong..we have a home in Santa Fe and I just took a picture of a 5 foot red snake in my front yard.
THis is the second snake we have seen in less than 1 year. They DO live here!! ugggg!
Jeena,
Come to Santa Fe and you have a ton of choices for various spiritual pursuits that, if taken seriously, should help you or your friend get over your fears and enjoy the climate, hiking, food, art, music, etc, etc, etc, etc....
