Default Where To Buy Inexpensive Indian Souvenirs

We are leaving New Mexico in a month. Would like to pick up some little souvenirs made by native americans, such as necklace, bracelet, etc. I know you can get this kind of stuff in plaza, but I got the impression it is pretty expensive there. Is there any place I can get more bang for the buck in town?

One advantage to buying from the Indians who sell under the portal on the plaza is that you know the items are locally made, and you get a chance to talk with the makers themselves. There are many items there that don't cost a lot - and you can bargain a bit as well. The Wheelwright Museum's Trading Post on Museum Hill also has nice Native American souvenirs that you can be sure are made by Indians and not cheap knockoffs from Asia and who knows where else.

I like to shop at Dressman's on the Plaza or Tin_Nee-Ann on Cerrillos Rd.

Both have reasonable prices.

Default A surprise

A place that surprised us -- the Pojoaque Pueblo Visitor Center and Gallery just south of the Cities of Gold casino on the frontage road along with O's and the Museum and Dairy Queen.

Do not not confuse it with the Nambe Store which never had a single thing o do with the Nambe Puebo and the stuff is aluminum.

Also do not confuse with anything at Buffalo Thunder Casino/Resort. (Nuff said about them.)

Pojoaque Visitor Center has a considerable price range of sterling or sterling and stone jewelry, pots, and other items from just about everyone and it is genuine and reasonably priced.

The sell Pendeltons but even the Navaho buy them. Great store,
