Just how quiet is Santa Fe?
Hello we are currently residing in the East Mountains in an RV resort, we tried ABQ but couldn't take the noise, particularly the cars whose drivers have more bass than brains, some call them "Boom Cars" and of course the hogs and crotch rockets, of course we have had to endure these issues, especially the boom cars everywhere we have lived in the U.S. it seems there is no escaping it. We still have them here in the mountains but much less frequently and they don't dare come into the RV park since all loud music is prohibited. We still have to go into the city once a week and can't be there for more than 10 minutes without getting boomed by one of these @#&* so does Santa Fe have the same problem as ABQ or is it prohibited and enforced properly? I should also mention that we have a very senstive 3 month year old baby and he can't stand being around those things, and he will let you know just how miserable they make them. so it's imperative that we live in a place that is very quiet and takes quality of life seriously. I'm sure compared to ABQ S.F. is quiet but in reference to the seriousness of quality of life we have our doubts considering what we know and how much it has changed in the last decade.
Thank you.

The amount of noise really depends on where you live in Santa fe, some areas are fairly quiet, others very loud. Most of the shopping along Cerrillos/St. Francis/Paseo de Peralta and the like will be noisy just as it is in any city. I really can't think of any city that is quiet, maybe a very small rural town would be a better fit.

After posting I realized that some parts may be quieter than others, my guess is that is based on what the areas are like low rent VS. high as well as commercial VS. residential. I agree a city is a city and most are not quiet, a small rural town would be a better fit, but we would be making long trips into the city, since we live on Whole Foods, Trader Joes and sometimes Sunflower, until we can either grow our own food on our own or in a cooperative we are stuck with the city. Is there anywhere within 10-20 mins outside of Santa Fe that might work? Would Jemez be like a rural town?
Thanks

Eldorado is very quiet and only 20 minutes away depending how far in you live. The further back, the quieter.

There are LOTS of quiet places in Santa Fe, but like everywhere, you will hear both quiet and noisy cars on the main roads. I haven't noticed too many of the super loud cars here, though. I suspect Albuquerque has a lot more.
I'm not sure if there are any RV Resorts in quiet areas of town - I haven't seen any. The ones I've seen are all on Cerrillos (the biggest road in town). And if you don't like noise that is a bad area!

Why would you move to a city if you don't want noise?

By definition: if you live in an RV resort, expect noise. Bikers, Z-28's, babies screaming, wife beatings, methlabs exploding, police car sirens, life flight helicopters, etc.

The louder the car stereo, the lower the driver's IQ.
