Does anyone know any websites where I can find pre-fab or "modular" homes? We're looking to put one on our land in Santa Fe and haven't been sucessful in finding any websites? Any information is appreciated!! Thanks.

Check out DelTec Homes. They are in Asheville, North Carolina. They ship all over North America. They offer financing. They have been in business for years. I went to the factory and checked it out. Also, talked to other builders there about their product. It may be a good option. I looked into putting one on land I own. One of the things I found in NM was explaining what a pre fabricated home is-they seemed to want to believe its a double wide. Far from it! Good luck.

I'm pretty sure that the City of Santa Fe discourages pre-fab homes.

What about dome homes? Different, sort of looks like they would belong in Santa Fe, LOL

Talk about cold and sterile.
I want a house that is warm and cozy and welcoming and inviting and nurturing.

I don't like all of the glass, but I do like the idea of more steel framing/concrete, cinderblock...done properly, this house would last far longer and be much more durable than typical construction.
I almost bought the house 3-4 doors down because it was energy-efficient, with steel framing...but I would have had to remodel the masterbath and rip out carpet for tile....which would have added substantially to the cost, so I passed.

This is probably the best site I have run across so far for prefabricated homes.
fabprefab - modernist prefab dwellings

I have been looking at pumice (frothy volcanic glass) as a building material. Lightweight, insulating and fireproof there is a company that uses this material located near Taos but their technique involves pouring the Punice-crete ™ into forms to cast the walls in place. I was considering making pumice blocks and building a house using block masonry methods. I think this would be more suitable for a do it yourself project. However when you consider that after the walls are built there is still about 80% of the work to be done using the cast walls might not be such a bad idea.
On our next trip to NM I will be looking for sources of materials and block casting companies in central NM. I could always set up a casting yard but that would be getting a bit too close to the basics. I am not getting any younger. On the other hand this might just be a neat business to get into.
