Red face Need suggestions for our trip to Santa Fe+

Three other families along with my own are packing up Christmas day and driving to Santa Fe (Glorietta) to play in the snow (we are from Houston). We did this last year and loved it...but we didn't get to see much of the town since we got snowed in. What are some of the "MUST SEES" in the area that we need to make sure we visit? We have on our list the Santa Fe Train and visiting Hyde Park for sledding. We have 5 young teenagers and 8 young-at-heart parents! Please help us build our itinerary!

wow - all those people! You must be some genius at organization. I suggest getting a Benchmatk Atlas of New Mexico and the State and Santa Fe tourist websites and take your pick. Looks like the mountains just got a lot os snow so go and have fun. please drive very carefully. Driving snow and ice covered mountain roads is a learned perversion.

We can just stay here in New Hampshire and have winter fun.

There are lots and lots of good New Mexico tourism sites on the internet that you can search to find many many places/activities in Santa Fe. You can personalize your itinerary based on what your family's interests are.

And ... if something sounds good to you, you might want to come back and ask us if we have been there and what we think about it.

santafescribe will become famous soon enoughsantafescribe will become famous soon enough
newmexico.org is a good place to start - the NM Tourism Dept website.
santafe.org is the city's website
santafeartsandculture.org/ will tell you what's on here.
santafenewmexican.com is the local newspaper (if you're here on a Friday pick up the paper for its weekend guide, Pasatiempo)

- Visit a pueblo - San Juan Pueblo, between Santa Fe & Espanola has its celebrations on Dec 24 & 25, called Matachines. You'll never see anything like it!
- The Santa Fe Train will be c-o-l-d ;-}
- Go for a hike at Tsankawi, north of Santa Fe (http://www.nps.gov/band/planyourvisit/tsankawi.htm)
- Be sure to visit Museum Hill on the Old Santa Fe Trail - all your culture gathered in one place!

You'll have a great time, and good for you to look for interesting stuff to do with your crew.
