BBQ in Pojoaque
New BBQ roadside with a rolling smoker outside the liquor store in Pojoaque. So far I have only had the brisket -- but the best brisket I have ever had. They don't have a sign yet, but doing well by word-of-mouth.

I like the meat at Josh's BBQ better than Whole Hog, but I like WH sauces better. Need to buy me some sauce and get some take out from Josh's!

Last week I tried Backroads Pizza for the first time. It was excellent. I'll give it 4 out of 5 stars. The sauce was what made the pizza. The other ingredients were fresh and delicious. The atmosphere is very casual and homey. The staff friendly and efficient. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is the price....$30 bucks for a pizza and salad, no drinks. That's a bit high for me, but expected in Santa Fe.
Thumbs up for Backroad Pizza.

On Election Day, we ate breakfast at a tiny little place out here on Hwy. 285 right across from the Eldorado main entrance. It is called the Blue Moon Cafe -- looks like a Mom and Pop operation. Been here for a year now.
Our breakfast was excellent -- huge portions, good menu choices for such a small place, low prices, seemed to have a good business going -- half the tables were occupied. They even have a drive thru.
Only problem: the green chile was mild. Not a deal breaker, but I would have preferred it hotter.

We have eaten out a lot this past week with out of town guests: La Choza, Maria's, Guadalupe Cafe, Harry's Roadhouse, Plaza Cafe, and Tecolote Cafe. Every place was excellent. YUMMMM.

As mentioned earlier, O is really good. They have a nice wine list. It seems everyone haschosen to overlook the Oar House. I think the food is good but the prices are lofty. If you go further north to Los Alamos the Hill Diner has a few very good selections on their menu. I also agree that Embudo Station is wonderful........I know the Chef personally. They were featured on Bobby Flay's Food Network program a few years ago. Jeronimo's on Canyon is very pricey but what an experience. I like Jinja's as well.
