Best Restaurants in Santa Fe area (Albuquerque, Las Vegas: hotel, to buy, prices)

The New Mexico restaurants thread is great, but it is a lot of pages to go through.

What about a Santa Fe area restaurant thread?

I will start with a few just north of Santa Fe. All are New Mexico cuisine, unless noted.

Tesuque Market -- just north of Santa Fe, get off 84/285 at the Tesuque village exit. Very good food, reasonable prices. Can be crowded in opera season until the opera starts.

Gabriel's -- a few miles further north of Santa Fe on 84/285 on the right. Good reputation. Didn't do much for me.

O's -- yet further north in Pojoaque on your right. Excellent food, expensive. However, it is new and out-of-town. If you are looking for an excellent restaurant and still uncrowded this is it. Great-looking bar. Friendly chef and waiters. Avoid the lunch. This restaurant has an international cuisine, all others mentioned here are New Mexican.

Road Runner. Also in Pojoaque, but on your left coming from Santa Fe. Inexpensive, allows smoking. Good breakfast. For the other meals, you get what you pay for.

El Parasol. New Mexican take-out chain. This one is in Pojoaque, also on right. Inexpensive, but not bad considering the price. I'd like some more vegetables in the offerings. If you like meat, beans and cheese, this place is very good.

Rancho de Chimayo. In Chimayo, north of the Sanctuary. 84/285 past Pojoaque, turn right on 503 East for Nambe -- drive some miles into the badlands and turn left at signs for Chimayo. Go past Sanctuario and turn right into restaurant. Food and prices comparable to Tesuque Market -- very good food, reasonably priced.

La Paraqua. In Espanola. Take 84/285 into Espanola and turn right on 76. Restaurant is very soon on left. Park on road or turn left immediately after restaurant and park in back. Only one of these restaurants with Hispanic ownership, management, help and predominant Hispanic clientel. very good food, reasonably priced. Best atmosphere of all of these restaurants. Don't confuse with El Parasol, the takeout next door.

On Old Las Vegas Highway (southeast of Santa Fe City)

Harry's Roadhouse. New Mexican with some variety, excellent food at moderate prices. Best deal in Santa Fe

From downtown, go out Old Pecos Trail toward I-25. Immediately before I-25, turn left on Old Las Vegas Highway. Go a couple of miles -- Harry's is on left.

Indian Restaurant. Turn left on Old Las Vegas Highway like going to Harry's, but turn in almost immediately at large gas station-convenience store on left. Indian restaurant -- good food, moderate prices is at far right end of store.

Bobcat Bite. Hamburgers. We didn't find hamburgers that great, but place is fun. Good natured waitresses work and enjoy themselves at a pace that would frazzle or kill an ordinary mortal. Also on Old Las Vegas Highway on left, but a couple of miles past Harry's.

I like the breakfast burritos at The Burrito Co.
But my fave place to eat is the Blue Corn Cafe, great brew too!

In the DeVargas Mall on the north side of town in between St. Frances (84/285) and Guadeloupe (spelling?).

Jinja offers what might be called Asian Fusion. Very good food and drinks with a nice atmosphere and very reasonable prices. Also easy parking.

Jinja started here in the DeVargas mall. I think they have since opened on in Albuquerque -- don't know the address.

Los Potrillos on Cerrillos Road (in an old Pizza Hut building) is some of the best Mexican food in the Central/Northern New Mexico corridor. Gorditas = muy bueno!

Mariscos La Playa on Cordova Rd. is some of the best Mexican seafood (and other) you'll get in Central/Northern New Mexico.

Adelitas Restaurant on Cerrillos (also one in Albuquerque on 4th Street) is also great. Good, authentic Mexican cuisine.

I second the suggestion of Blue Corn Cafe...great Indian frybread taco to wash down an excellent cold microbrew.

I really like the Atomic Cafe near the plaza.

Santa Fe...she has some good grub.

All great, here are some other non-New MexicanGeronimo - Expensive, but what a restaurant!!!! Could easily operate in Chicago or NY.
315 - French (haven't been in a while but it used to be great)
El Meson de Espana - Spanish (Tapas and Paella) Wonderful
Amavi - liked the concept and the food, I went when they first opened so service was less than stellar, but I chalked it up to the newness

Anybody been to the new Horseman's Haven? I liked it when it was at the gas station. Didn't want to take my friends there when asked this week where to go to eat--too hot so we went to Maria's. Good margaritas.

I like many restaurants in Santa Fe.

I have never been to any of the expensive ones.

My favorites ~ all affordable ~ are:

La Choza

Harry's Roadhouse

Guadalupe Café

The Pantry

Maria's

Tortilla Flats

And of course, Blake's Lotaburger.

I have a long list of more restaurants to try when we get there. Top of the list: Bobcat Bite ... my friend Julia in Santa Fe has promised to buy me my first Bobcat Bite green chile cheeseburger.
