Talking On My Way to Santa Fe!!!

I'm hauling my sister-in-law out to Santa Fe tomorrow, and I can't wait to get back. I haven't been in New Mexico since 2000. I lived between Santa Fe and Taos back in the '80s, and I'm a huge fan. I cried when I left New Mexico. I was a tourist first, then a citizen, now a tourist again.

We will do the typical tourist stuff in town and then head up to Taos. I'm soooo excited. I've seen quite a few negative posts on this forum, so please don't add the same to this thread. As I said, I lived out there, worked in Santa Fe, got along with the natives, ran around the mountains, painted everything that I could hold down, and loved every colorful, pinyon-scented minute of my life there. Just had to share my happiness at going back...even as a tourist.

Hi BluesConnect!

I am actually on my way to Santa Fe today, too!

We fly to ABQ tonight, then drive up to Santa Fe.

Tomorrow is the walk-thru on the house we are buying, and Friday is the closing. We will move out there in mid-May.

No negative comments here. I love New Mexico, love Santa Fe, and can't believe after 38 YEARS we are moving back!!!!!!!

I hope you get to move back, too!

How exciting everyone, wish we could afford to live in Santa Fe area, maybe someday! We are heading up to Taos for our 5th wedding anniversary in May, going to stay at Casa Benavides, do lots of eating, hiking, hot spring scouting, and hit up Taos Cow Ice Cream! Hope to check out some music while we are there too.

If you guys like funky folky style music Joe West is playing this Thurs, Fri, Sat in Santa Fe, then Madrid, then Taos. I love that guy....

Joe West Music Appearances

Have fun!

The only negative you'll find from me is that I'm not in NM....yet! (Although we are looking more towards Alamogordo.)

Howdy BluesConnect - Taos may have changed a bit since you were there, but it's still a great place! I used to have a 200 year old casita near the Plaza that I loved, but had to sell when my job was transferred to another state. Now I'm back in a small town outside of Santa Fe and couldn't be happier. New Mexico Rocks!!!

I left because two things happened simultaneously: 1st, my son who was in college at Texas A&M at the time had a horrible motorcycle accident which took several years and lots of physical therapy to overcome. I flew back to Texas as soon as I got the call. George, my son, was in the hospital almost 6 mos and came out with a cast up to his hip, several surgeries behind him, more on the way, and emotional problems as a result; 2nd, my husband, at the time, disliked Santa Fe (he couldn't get along with anyone) and the job he was doing for his company came to an end. So, I wound up in College Station, Texas for several months, then I got my old job back in Houston and went to work so I could make a home for my son when the time came. Otherwise, I would have still been there. I had a good job in Santa Fe. But things rocked on and I eventually wound up moving to Denver.
