But if you are worried about "teeming throngs" then you need to be careful where you go -- because many many places are more crowded than Santa Fe.
I hear you Devin. I have been to a lot of places, so I have my mind set on where to retire, if and when I do. I like Santa Fe, and truly enjoy being able to get out and ski within 30 minutes of my door, and the food is great.

The reason I will not retire here is that it always will be a little more expensive and pretentious in Santa Fe, and when I get older, I don't want to be around that. In addition, I have lived in NM almost two decades now, and I suppose I will live here another two decades or so. I think after all that time in the desert, I'm going to be yearning for green trees, grass, lakes, streams and all that. So I'm hoping you are right, that my property will appreciate greatly, and I will be able to leave here with fond memories and a good amount of cash.

Bienvenidos a Santa Fe, Towanda! The Spring Festival at El Rancho De Las Golondrinas is June 7-8th and is a great event to get some local culture/flavor.

Safe travels! I'm picturing the scene from Vacation with the 'family truckster' packed solid and stuff tied onto the luggage racks. Anything we can give you a heads up on?

Hi guys! Thanks for all the nice messages. Everyone we have met here so far has been very friendly and welcoming to us...

JMRTraveler ... I hope you have a safe trip out here and you love this state as much as I do.... be sure to let us know when you arrive. Be prepared for a MUCH slower mañana lifestyle.

santafescribe: I fully intend to NEVER move again!! The next time all this STUFF will be my kid's responsibility.

ZiaAirmac - Thanks for the tip about the Spring Festival at El Rancho De Las Golondrinas. In another week or so we will be ready to soak up the local culture.

Vinegaroon - Bert's Burger Bowl is on my list.

Congrats on the move Towanda. We just came back from a very nice, albeit exhausting trip to SF/Abq. LOVED IT! Can't wait to sell here & move there!!

Glad it all went well with the move. Rest up and enjoy the sites of your new home state!

JMR - so jealous! Have a safe trip!
