Hello,

I am hoping to spend a month or two in Santa Fe or Taos this summer (2008). I could move down as early as in June. I would appreciate any suggestions regarding how to find an affordable yet safe and clean rental that would last one or two months. I am a non-smoker and a non-drinker. I have a quiet 14 year old son who loves to read. I recently visited Taos and Santa Fe. The high cost of motels drained my finances. I will be seeing if NM is the right place for us to live - and I'll be searching for job possibilities. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

You should check out craigslist santa fe / taos apts/housing for rent classifieds - craigslist
for local apartments to rent. Also, the SF New Mexican and the SF Reporter, both of which are online. You'll get many options from those places.
Each of those publications also have homes-for-sale sections, so you can get an idea of house prices too.
Hope that helps.

There is a large short-term rental business in Santa Fe, with the greatest demand usually in the summer because of the art fairs, opera, etc.

My impression is -- that business is suffering because of the economic turndown in other parts of the country. So this might be a good summer to find a bargain -- and maybe try to negotiate on price.

I may know of a nice place in Arroyo Hondo. It is a 2 story home 4bd,3ba that sits on 1.25 ac. Let me know what you are looking to spend and for how long and I can talk to the owner.

Hello,

I apologize if I have taken longer than expected to reply to your posting. I don't need a 4 bedroom, but I would still like to know more about the home. I would like the rental for one or two months this summer. I am flexible with the exact dates, but I would prefer to arrive in June or July. Is there a possibility of doing some errands to bring down the rental cost? Do you know the rental cost? Thank you for letting me know about this possibility.
