M.A.M. - I have to agree with most of the comments made by others. As much as I enjoy Towanda's many posts, I certainly would take issue with her conservative views. Politically, Santa Fe is quite liberal (it is, after all, where Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame decided to move, where Bill Richardson is Governor, where Barack beat Hillary, etc.) and there's an active night scene with unbelieveably great live music performances. For a relatively small city there's an amazingly large wealth of cultural activities that can keep you going vitually every night of the week. And as for outdoor activities, northern New Mexico is blessed with opportunities that are too numerous to enumerate; buy a book if you want to get a hint......

My guess would be that Eldorado and also Los Alamos attract young couples with children, and that young couples without children might tend toward the City of Santa Fe. No empirical evidence for this however.

I agree with you, Devin.
I guess my point was just that there are lots of young couples/families in the Santa Fe area, since the question was raised whether Santa Fe was inhabited mostly by old people.

That seems rather harsh of you. Would you even bother getting to know her if you knew beforehand that she had a conservative viewpoint?
But yes, going to Santa Fe was always an interesting experience coming from Los Alamos. I always ran into some unique individuals.

ThatTNGuy "Would you even bother getting to know her if you knew beforehand that she had a conservative viewpoint?"
Response - Absolutely! Some (well, a few) of my best friends are conservative politically. As long as they can intelligently discuss the issues we can have lively discussions (usually over margaritas or wine) and remain friends. I believe all I said was "...I certainly would take issue with her conservative views." but that does not mean I wouldn't want to get to know her; especially since "...I enjoy Towanda's many posts."
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to clarify.....

I currently live in Virginia but have similar requirements for a pending move (liberal attitude + art + outdoors) . Asheville NC might be worth looking at if you can stand looking East....
