We -- the participants in this sub-forum -- are frequently asked for recommendations and do our best.

We can get some help from the Reporter's Best of Santa Fe 2008 which is now available in hard copy in various locations (free) and on-line at Santa Fe Reporter - Best of Santa Fe: 2008 (http://www.sfreporter.com/cms/story/detail/best_of_santa_fe_2008/3771/ - broken link)

Stock up for your out-of-town visitors.

PS. Don't confuse Java Joe's -- which won for coffee house -- with Java City.

Most are pretty good recommendations, but they are missing much of the native's recommendations. Not many natives read the Reporter. It has been made into some sort of alternative newspaper that allows stuff in it I wouldn't allow a pre teen to read. It has a advice column about love and sex issues that I can't even read at times. It is vulgar. I wrote for it many years ago when it was actually a real newspaper.

But it does give you a pretty good idea of some of the better places.
