Need help, cheap eats in Santa Fe?
Hi all!
I know you have a restaurant thread...but I'm looking for something a little different. I'm looking for the local places where one get a taste of the local flavor for under $10...not necessarily a sit down restuarant...take out is fine. Particularly interested in taco/burrito stands, green chili burgers, breakfast burritos....that sort of thing. Can anyone help me out? These do not need to be in the downtown area, but if there are any there that's good too. I'm coming to Santa Fe this fall to check it out for possible relocation, and need some places that are cheap. Will be "dining" sometimes, but don't want to do it for every single meal.
Thanks in advance,
Janelle

I think at Diego's Cafe and La Choza, two of my favorite places, you can get entrees for under $10.

By your post it sounds like you're looking for New Mexican food. Here are some good, inexpensive spots.
Tia Sophia's downtown for great breakfast burritos.
El Parasol for awesome take out New Mexican food.
El Comal...a hidden gem on Cerrillos Rd. Home made New Mexican food at a great price.
Castro's on Cerrillos also.
Burrito Company right off the plaza.
As was mentioned before, the frito pies at the Five and Dime. These frito pies have been prepare using the same recipe for decades. Before the Five and Dime they were served at Woolworths. A bag of fritos slice up the side and filled with mouthwatering chile with ground beef and beans. I have to go downtown and have one at least a couple of times a month!
