And Bless You, nlpwriter for giving up your holiday to help the needy and less fortunate. It's people like you that make our state so special.

Hi NPL writer,
I am in the same situation as you. I just moved to taos and don't know many people here. If you want to carpool to santa fe and volunteer together, let me know. You can respond directly to my email at rickp@live.com

st felix pantry
I am a volunteer at the Pantry and when I asked about volunteering on Thanksgiving, I was told that they have all the help they need except for afternoon cleanup.

Volunteering Thankgiving Day
I am new to ABQ and would love to help out as my family is in California. I read a few posts and my heart sank ... i am worried that now that I finally have the opportunity to give to others on this special day I might end up on the couch watching TV! Please help point me in the right direction. Churches, civic centers, Mosques..I don't care! Thank you in advance.

I am so happy to see this post! I am a Volunteer Coordinator in Texas (will be moving to Santa Fe in 2011 for school) and am so happy that volunteering seems alive and well in Santa Fe! Just wanted to do a little bit of cheering you all one! Hope you all have a fabulous holiday -- taking time to 'give back' to the community is so valuable!

Keep in mind that poor people are hungry all year round. Don't just make it a one-off because you don't have anything else to do that day.

Hospitals always need help. Try Holy Cross in Taos. Patients need to be fed, read to or just a visit. I would suggest that you get involved on a regular basis.
