loborick - That's a problem everywhere I think. I'm a single female (no kids) and have the same issues you mention with men my age. I'm looking forward to moving to Santa Fe someday anyway though! I'm hoping to find single people to hang out with that like to be active. I finally visited last year after yearning to visit for many years, and fell in love with the place. Here - I have to hibernate 4 months or more each year, which is getting very old. I agree with Miami Dan on the on the dating sites - they are a waste of time. This is a fun thread!

I hear you on the hibernating!!! Midwest winters are not a lot of fun!
loborick & Future Santafean? How about that! Problem solved for two more single people!! (sorry, could not resist!)
Just curious FS, when are you planning on moving?

Unfortunately, it will probably be about 6 more years before I can relocate. I know, 6 years is an eternity! But at that point I will be able to take "early retirement" from my job. Each winter I wonder if I can stand waiting that long though. In the mean time, I'll have to try to be content with visiting as often as I can. If I win the lottery though - I am there!

If you are unhappy, it is time to relocate!! Listen to your natural intuition!! Forget retirement! There are no guarantees!!
I am going to walk away from a stable family business. When I do, I will be throwing away 7 long years and up with nothing! However, If I don't walk away, I will live to regret it!!! Besides, I am ready for a fresh new start! If I can do it, so can you!!!

Future SF...drop me a PM next time you visit. I'm a great tour guide and can show you some of the singles places for 40-somethings!

I hear you Xavious, but I don't have the guts to do it! Some days I think I should just sell the house, pack up the dogs and go, and others days I think that would be totally insane. I guess that means I'm not ready yet. I do admire your courage though.
Hey lobo - it would be great to have a local guide! I'll let you know when I plan another visit.

Thanks for the kind words. But, I don't believe it to be couragous, it is just the right thing for me to do. I feel it is time to start the second half of my life(???) in a fresh new place!
BTW, if you need any assistance down the road, I would be happy to help!
Towanda, I would be honored to have you chaperone me!! Is it going to be ok to hold hands with my date?!?
