If anyone plans to visit SF and wants a tour guide, PM me. I love showing off my town. I am pretty busy but will try and make the time to show you around.

Future Santafean is on a distinguished road
Towanda, Xavious and lobo, it is so generous of you to offer to help out visitors and future residents. I already know how beautiful Santa Fe is, and if the people on this forum are any indication, the people are fabulous too! It just confirms that I made the right decision as to where to relocate.

Speaking of visiting, I have been looking at a company called Santa Fe Mountain Adventures as a way to be able to do some fun, active things on my next visit, like hiking, WW rafting, and horseback riding. Does anyone know anything about them? Are they reputable? My usual traveling companions aren't very big on adventures, so I am looking for options. Any advice you can offer would be appreciated!

Get a dog. Take it for walks. (Santa Fe is a great walking town.)

Use the dog to pick up people you would like to date.

Oh, ... be a good citizen and clean up after your dog.

I meet mostly women here but my theory is that women tend to be more social--taking classes, etc. If you take pottery or any classes, you should meet women in Santa Fe. I've taken pottery classes at Santa Fe Clay and going to start another class soon at the community college. Lots of women in my classes--all ages. The members of The Santa Fe Hiking meetup appear to be a younger crowd (40s and under.) Sierra Hiking club is fairly active. There is also an active singles group. I've done some fun things with them--right now they're having a couple of swing lessons and sent an e-mail asking men to sign up --lots of women - 3 men. And if you don't mind driving ABQ has a couple very active singles groups. I hear women complain all the time about the lack of men here and men tell me how many women there are here (?--never sure why they feel the need to say that to a woman??--I usually laugh and say that's great for you! but it is a mystery why they feel the need to proclaim it.)

If you get a dog you can also learn Ballroom dancing with your dog at the community college. Now you know this is a dog town!

You know, I really wouldn't recommend the social scene in Santa Fe, which probably spills over onto the dating scene. I wouldn't know about the dating because I'm married, but me and my wife are really bored in Santa Fe. We've been here about two years and don't have any friends to speak of.

Prior to this we lived in a big city on the East Coast and found it much easier to make friends. I am in my mid- 30s and my wife is in her upper 30s. We plan on moving away from New Mexico soon.

I think it depends on what you like to do in order to meet people. If you like doing outdoor very active stuff there's all kinds of groups. If you like to house dance forget it.

Have you been doing things and giving your number to people you connect with and then inviting them to do things? I'd have more friends if I had the time to call everyone I've exchanged numbers with this past year. My goal this year is to make more friends now that I'm more settled in the job and house. I find I often have to initiate it. Organizing a hike/picnic and calling those people can be a good way to see who is interested. I find it easier to make friends here than in PA where everyone lived in the area for a long time. There are always new people moving here who also need new friends.

I have tons of friends in Santa Fe, both friends I've had fr many years and also many new friends. I am never bored in SF. There is so much to do. Outdoors activities, good live music, museums, good indipendent films, live theater...I hear so many people say they are bored, but they don't check out what is going on in SF. There are nights I get frustrated because there are two or three things happening I'd like to attend. And I meet people at all these things.
