Working in Sante Fe and living in Rio Rancho
It's possible that I might have a job working in Sante Fe. My husband and I were hoping to live around the Rio Rancho area. How far of a commute would this be if we stuck in the RR area?

Why not live in Santa Fe if you are going to work here?

I might be wrong but isn't housing a lot cheaper in Rio Rancho? Please, educate me if I'm wrong!

I don't know, I haven't compared the two.
I do know house prices have been coming down in Santa Fe.
And you have to factor in the daily commute.
Some people think it's worth it. We would not have done it.

Well I am used to the two hour daily commute I do daily here working in Washington DC. I guess I'll have to wait and see if and when we get out there!

Cool. Guess I am wondering what your question is then, and what kind of information you are looking for.

My question is, generally, how long would it take to commute from Rio Rancho to Santa Fe. I know it all depends on from where to where exactly but generally speaking.

Heheh I was thinking of the opposite way: live in SF and work in RR. The Roadrunner would help regardless.

Many people live in RR or Bernalillo and work in SF, especially state government workers. The Railrunner is now operating and the ride is 1 1/2 hours. You can drive it in an hour, depending on the time of day. Rush hour is almost bumper to bumper.

You need to seriously consider how much YOUR TIME is WORTH! Oh yeah... gas prices will be going right back up, don't get too comfortable.
