Default Possible move for internship at los alamos?

Hi everyone, im a senior at NMSU, looking to graduate this coming fall, I have a question! A representative recently called me asking if i was still interested on being an intern at Los Alamos National Lab. The pay is good compared to any job in las cruces. So I accepted and was told that i needed to fund my own living arrangements. I looked online for apartments and rentals in los alamos, espanola, and santa fe. Does anyone know where else i can look for rentals or recommend?

Also i am bringing my family which is my wife, son, and German Shorthaired Pointer. I have read the previous posts about each city, and i know that it is hard to get an apartment with a dog that weights more than 30 lbs (our GSP is actually 80 lbs) but i need information from a student level, and a newbie that has lived in las cruces all his life.

Congrats on landing a doorway into LANL. They have a lot of top-end talent there.

Beating the streets around town, looking at rental houses and B&B's may be an approach you can take. Don't rule out White Rock either.

Apply early for your housing. Housing is scarce in LA and you need every advantage you can get.

You may want to consider the possibility of finding a vacant lot (or old dilapidated trailer you can remove) in Espanola and setting up a new or new-to-you trailer on that property. It's more front-heavy of an approach, but at least it's yours and you can accommodate your family and pets to your heart's content without dealing with landlords.

You can always just try biting the bullet and picking up a house in one of these places. They're affordable enough for someone earning $50k+ in LA intern pay.

Hope that helps. Enjoy, and better you than me as far as Los Alamos winters.

Virtual Los Alamos Classified Ads - Housing, Vehicles and more... will be a good place to look for housing. There are alot of rentals on the market right now.
