Wow, dingaling, your background and talents are impressive. I wish I knew of full time employment opportunities for you, but I don't.
I'm wondering if you have a portfolio that you could use to go around to the real estate companies in town. Talk with the Qualifying Broker at each one and see if there may be an opportunity for either full/part time or contract work.
Also, you could make up large postcards with a great graphic on one side and a compelling message on the other and put them in the mail slots of every agent in every real estate office in town. By hand delivering them you'd save a lot on postage, and the offices are fairly close to one another.
You might also check out the hotels/ B&Bs, and there are some new restaurants that recently opened that might want some graphic design help.
The market is probably slow right now but that doesn't mean opportunities don't exist. They always seem to for aggressive entrepreneurs.
Of course you can do work for a client anywhere over the web, so don't ignore larger markets like Albuquerque - which is only an hour down the road.
I wish you well.

Those are really good ideas. I appreciate them. I never thought of getting clients in Albuquerque. I do have a portfolio. I'm in the process of updating my website and I'll post my resume and portfolio on them as well.
I also own an audio tour company, Here And There Audio Tours that I just kicked off. Not getting very many hits though. I'll worry about that one later. I'm hoping to produce an audio tour of Santa Fe and surrounding areas.

I have noticed one art gallery that has an audio tour of their gallery that somehow works with your cell phone.
I don't know if this is similar, didn't try it.

Audio tours of Santa Fe and surrounding areas sound like a great idea. Like TomM1, I know that one museum in town, the O'Keeffe, has an audio tour - but others might want to if they don't. Just so you know your competition, there are guided walking tours, bus tours and pedi-cab tours. But your idea let's folks go on their own, at their own pace, so it sounds like it has some possibilities.

I have a friend in the business here in town. I'll forward him your qualifications and see what he says. He may needs someone or know someone who does.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I really appreciate it. My head is spinning with all that needs to get done for moves. Especially get a job and apartment.
I'll keep my chin up. I've already set my mind on Santa Fe so I'll be there come rain or shine.
thanks

You seem to be a natural at networking. A place to go to meet people, post ads and look at posted ads is Subscriptions, a coffee shop off Canyon. I forget the street, but you can look it up on the internet.

Yo, Santafe, it's called Downtown Subscriptions and it's on Garcia Street, at the corner of Acequia Madre. It's my favorite coffee house, but I've never "cold networked" there. Just met folks for a cuppa and to chew the croissant. I agree, though, it seems to be a good place to meet friendly people.
