My wife and i are looking for a weekend stay, Thursday evening thru Sunday, August 12-15 or 19-22, at a really nice Anna Maria Island location. Prefer beachfront or as close as possible with a view of the gulf. She was hinting at a bed and breakfast, I was thinking more of a tropical cottage feel. No kitchen! Hot tub would be great. Prefer on the northern end of the island close to the Sandbar Restaurant. That area seems to be centralized, walking distance to a lot of things to do. Let me know if I'm wrong......please..... Thinking of bringing our bikes maybe???? are they needed????
Even toying with the idea of bringing along our 11 year old Golden Retriever, but I'm thinking she might restrict our activities, maybe the next trip.
We live in Ft Myers only 20 minutes from the Gulf, but were looking for atmosphere and old Florida feel, walking on the beach, eating great food and tropical drinks. Cleanliness, comfort and friendly people are a must. Starbucks coffee would score some points also. Thank you for reading this and all suggestions will be looked into. Floridasun@me.com

Well, it's not on AMI but years ago we stayed in a cottage at The Wicker Inn on Longboat Key. Not sure what's it's like now, but I remember we really enjoyed it.

Well recently booked here based on a recomendation from a city data member and it looks pretty damn cool. I don't know about the Sandbar but I do know you can walk to the Beach House restaurant as well as Bannana Cabana which was also recomended by a cd member.

Tortuga Inn Beach Resort Anna Maria Island Florida

We booked the gulf view studio rooms for the same reasons you are looking for.

Beerme,
The Sandbar restaurant also owns the Beach House restaurant - you'll like that as well. It is on the other end of the island.

The other thread - I'm trying to let it die, it is irrelevant anyway really.

We had lunch at the Sandbar last Tuesday. LOVED IT!! We went to another of their places, Mar Vista, as well, I had a margarita with a coronita turned upside down in it, it was great! We missed the Beach House somehow. We really really liked the Sandbar, but may have like the Mar Vista better as well, but it was raining while we were there.

Ahhhh, AMI is so great! My Mom lives in Bradenton, and every time I visit, I race down to AMI to see that spectacular sunset over the Gulf. Did it on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve....just so peaceful. There is such an "island-y" feel to the place (LOL, yes, I know it IS an island), but as opposed to the high-rises of Longboat Key. And of course, the powder-white beaches. The Beach House is really a fun place to celebrate the sunset, BTW...lots of people there, plus there's music, check it out.

Thanks for the info so far....... AMI must be a well kept secret since there isn't a lot of info flowing in here. I might have to drive up for a day and check it out myself.
Has anyone stayed or have info on the "Harrington House B&B" ???? I realize it's not at the northern tip but that's ok.
