i'm going to need to see some more music before the summer is over. Can you tell me the places to check out within about 1 hr any direction of SRQ that get the big shows? I want to look at the summer schedules and see if there is anything in August I might want to get tix for now.

I just looked at Tropicana Field and not much going on there. Are there other stadiums, coliseums, clubs, arenas... what venues should I look up??

BRB - gotta go pick up my chinese food...

Here's a link that has a bunch listed. Tampa Bay’s top 20 concert venues | Tampa | Special Sections | Top Concert Venues

It's a bit older, so some of the names have changed, but it should get you started.

Uncle John's Band plays @ Skipper's Smokehouse in Tampa every Thursday night. Google them & enjoy!

that does look like fun but i am looking for places where the tours come through too.

one of my fave bands is playing here in Bklyn like RIGHT when i am moving and then heading to Europe - i am hoping when they come back through the east coast they will make a stop in FL somewhere close! I drove to Philly to see them a month ago and usually i will go to all the nights they pay in NYC (usually Webster Hall)

OH - btw Lady with a Fan... when I saw Furthur in Coney Island a few weeks ago they did the whole Terrapin and it was awesome!!

Also keep an eye on House of Blues and Hard Rock Live in Orlando. They're about two hours away, so it may be worth it for some shows.

Ticketmaster.com is the best place to look for tickets. Here are some of the popular, bigger local venues:

Raymond James Stadium, Tampa

1-800-Ask-Gary amphitheater at the Florida Fairgrounds, Tampa

Janus Landing, Tampa (usually more alternative bands play there)

A La Carte Pavilion, Tampa (I've seen a few boxing matches there)

St. Pete Times Forum, Tampa

Most of the bigger acts play at the Forum or Amphitheater in Tampa.

Now in Orlando there's:

The House of Blues, Orlando. This is a small venue then some others.

Hard Rock Live, Orlando. Again, this is a smaller venue.

Amway Arena, Orlando

On the other coast your have:

American Airlines Arena, Miami

Bayfront Park Amphitheater, Miami

BankAtlantic Center, Sunrise

Sun Life Stadium, Miami

All four of the Miami venues will hold big acts. I'm taking the kids to see Lady Gaga next year in April at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise.
