Tried to go for lunch at Sharky's with out-of-town guests today! there was traffic (they didn't notice that part but I saw the difference from a few months ago) There were gazillion people there, an hour wait for a table and people hovering over other people's tables waiting for them to finish and get up - it was not worth the aggravation so we left. Too bad, it was GORGEOUS out!

I went by the south jetty too - same thing tons of people and cars everywhere in the lot, never saw it like that. I liked it around Christmas, quiet but some people around - not this hulabaloo!

I wasn't even going to attempt going north into sarasota! I guess I will just hole up until June? When does it mellow out again?

Right after Easter, the clocks change back to "local time".

At last someone sees snowbirds for what they are to the residents and the reason why I left

Phew! that's good news.

It's funny, we went to Siesta Key Village saturday night and I thought it was totally manageable. WHat i saw today was madness. I thought it would be worse on a saturday night than a wednesday at 1pm!!

i'm guessing that one of the benefits of snowbirds is that they pour such money into the economy that it allows all business establishments to stay open 12 months of the year instead of possibly shutting down for six months or going out of business altogether.
i don't know, i moved here for a bunch of good reasons, and some traffic and perhaps other annoyances a few times six months of the years was included in my equation.

Haha! I was going to post the same thing! I was wondering where all the so called snowbirds were until last week. I feel like I'm playing a real life game of frog-er on my morning beach walks lately....

Sharky's was packed like that when we went on New Year's Day. I wish the tables outside were not first come, first served. I'm not a fan of the hovering...

Just want to say, though....I LOVE "sunbirds"!!!! If not for them, our economy would be nonexistent. The extra traffic, excessive wait lines at restaurants, and lack of parking at the beach for 4 months a year is an easy trade off. They're welcome in my book!

They are a great source of entertainment as well ! I love when they play bumper cars with the front entrance to pharmacies and other venues
