Default Relocating to Sarasota in July, 2011

Hi, we will be relocating to Sarasota this July. I am looking to rent before buying so we can really take our time finding the right home. I will be visiting my parents who live in Bradenton from April 19th - May 2nd, so I can look around. I am looking for an unfurnished Home with at least 3 bedrooms, pool and fenced in yard. That seems simple, but I have 2 dogs that we love dearly and they must make the move with us. My daughter is 15 yrs old, and I would like to rent in the Riverview H.S. area, with rent not exceeding $2,500.00. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank You!

I would suggest looking in the Palmer Ranch area. Specifically, Turtle Rock, The Hampton's, Deer Creek or Stonebridge. I'm typing from my Droid so Ill go into more detail later.

Palmer Ranch may get a little bit pricey,,,but you could also check homes off of Proctor most specifically in the 34231 zip code area. Look on the Sarasota County School Board's website and look in the zip code specifically for Riverview which can help. Good luck on your search!

Please be aware that many gated communities limit the number and size of the pets people can own. Check and make sure before you buy a home that two dogs are allowed and that they meet the size requirements.

What breed of dogs are they? There is a short list of aggressive breeds of dogs that most landlords will not allow tenants to have due to insurance issues. Usually on that list are:
Pit bulls
Rottweilers
German Shepherds
Huskies
Doberman Pinschers
Chow Chows

As to areas, there are lots of little neighborhoods south of Bee Ridge and east of Beneva that should fall within the Riverview High school district, and be below $1800 per month for rent. Palmer Ranch is very nice but would definitely have higher rental rates than other nearby options. I agree with a previous poster -- go check the school web site for the latest revision of the school district map to make sure your potential rental home is indeed within the boundaries for Riverview as these boundaries can change school year to school year.

I have a friend who just rented a very nice home in Turtle Rock (Palmer Ranch) for $1700 a month. I still say that would be a good place to check. I believe she rented from Stringer Management.

A few other neighborhoods worth checking out are:
Gulf Gate
Phillippi Gardens
The Landings (very close to Riverview)
Then you have the Southside neighborhoods-They are close to downtown but tend to be a bit more pricey-Aqualane Estates, Bayview Acres, Oyster Bay Estates
If you're looking for acreage-Foxfire, Gator Creek or Saddle Creek (on the higher end)
If you like golfing-Misty Creek, Prestancia, Serenoa

When I was a kid I lived on Riverwood Ave, off of Proctor. It was a nice neighborhood and I could walk to Riverview.

Default Thanks

Thanks for all the info on the areas! Now we at least know where to start looking. Unfortunately I do have two blue nose pit bulls a male & female who are loving family dogs. They are not aggressive and very friendly. Itís very sad that they are stereotyped. I had the feeling it would not be easy.
