We are spending Easter week in the Sand Cay condo complex in Longboat key. We are looking for activities to do with our daughter who is 2.

Are there Easter Egg hunts open to the public?
Family restaurants for Easter brunch?
Any suggestions on parks to take her to?
Also, is Longboat key bike friendly?
Would it worth renting bikes for the week? Or will we mostly likely be driving?

also how far is St. Armands from Longboat Key?

thanks in advance for any suggestions! I am so excited for the beautiful beach and warm weather!!

It takes about 10 minutes, 5 miles from St. Armands to Long Boat Key.

4/22/11 - 10am - Jungle Trails and Bunny Tales - Sarasota Jungle Gardens
Children $5 if you bring a canned good. Petting zoo and traditional Easter activities such as an egg hunt.

I grew up on LBK as a kid so I can probably answer most of your questions. LBK has a bike path that runs the entire length of the key. So, it's pretty bike friendly. That being said, there aren't a whole lot of shops or stores located on the key so you're probably not going to be doing a lot of biking to things. Most likely you'll be driving, especially with a 2 year old. If you want to rent bikes to go for a ride up and down the bike path that would be fine though.

St. Armand's nearly abuts LBK, just depends on where you're staying on LBK as to how far it is to St Armand's.

St Armand's is a fun place to window shop but a bit expensive to purchase things. Kilwin's is a great place to go for ice cream. Cha Cha Coconuts is probably the most kid friendly place on the circle.

I know last year St Armand's had an Easter Egg Hunt called "around the circle" and there were over 3000 eggs hidden. I'm not sure if they're doing it again this year. Here are a few others in the area: Sarasota Easter Egg Hunts Events, Shows & Things to do - Sarasota Herald-Tribune
