Hi, I am considering a move to the area and love a good thunderstorm. I see from the weather stats that summers are very wet in terms of precip amount. I was wondering whether there is lots of thunder and lightning along with all the rain. I live in the silicon valley area of Cali. and the lack of summer storms is killing me! Thanks in advance.

You will definitely get your fill of thunderstorms :-) Probably 2-3 good ones per week in the summer rainy season. We LOVE storms as well, and miss them in the winter months.

I love the summer storms too! When it lightnings you get all those great negative ions that make you feel good; plus the storms will usually drop the temps sometimes 20 degrees!

I just love the little/mild lightening strikes my head received numerous times escaping the beach in a sudden/instant storm. They activated another 90% of my brain cells which most people don't use!
How invigorating and refreshing...

Thank you all for the helpful info. Good to see some other people get it about storms. I'm originally from central Georgia and never realized how much I would miss the summer storms. It rains next to nothing from april through October here in the silicon valley and in the winter it is a cold, dreary, drizzly rain with no thunder or lightning. Not the same thing, at all, as I tell my husband!
