We've been to Crow's Nest, Sharkey's, Captain Eddies, Casey Key Fish House, Robbie's Reef, and Barnacle Bill's. Would appreciate any suggestions for new places to try!

not in venice or sarasota, but is in englewood. go down 776 turn on to beach road heading west towards the gulf. go down a ways and just before the intercoastal bridge there is a little tiki hut looking stand next to a marina. the guy there has the freshest fish with the best prices we have found since being here. always has grouper, mahi, shrimp, snapper etc. can get other on request, like sushi grade tuna.

just a note this is a fish stand not a restaurant.................just good old fish to take home and cook

Saltwater cafe is awful, IMO. I hadn't been there in several years and thought maybe they got better after a few years. Nope. The two restaurants in the area I don't recommended are the Saltwater Cafe and the Lashiley Crabhouse in Punta Gorda.

On the other hand Casey Key Fish House and Capt Brian's by the airport are great. However the atmosphere at Capt Brian's isn't the best. Love their blackened grouper sandwich though.

Well OK then... Saltwater is not recommended.

*I can only go by my experience & I've had some good food there.

We have gone to Johnny Leverock's on Placida Rd in Cape Haze with our neighbor friends quite a few time and have always liked it.

Not trying to hi-jack the thread, but does anyone know of seafood buffets in the Sarasota area?
