I just returned from spending 10 days in Texas looking at other alternatives,...ya know,...'just in case". If and when my current job situation ever comes to an end, I do not at all feel comfortable that I could replace my current position and income in Sarasota.
How did the 10 days in Texas work out for you? Heard Houston, Dallas and Austin are great for IT (if that is the tech you are talking about)

Angry I have lived here for 10 years

I have found that employers from day one (since I have lived here) will fire you if you show too much initiative or for the stupidest things. I am going to MCC for a degree in Computer Programming since I am burnt out from being in sales. That is probably one of the few good things about Florida. I only pay $74.00 per credit. I have a 98 avg. (3 classes so far). I want to make sure I am NEVER unemployed again.

Once I get my degree I am going back to New England. Yes, I hate the winters but don't want to get paid in peanuts, work for employers who have full right to fire for stupid reasons. Besides, I miss my family.

Gee, it's no wonder why people can't find good help in Florida. They won't put up with the crap that some of these employers dish out. They are protected up north but not here. Bah-bye Florida, the big ********* state. Even the state is shaped like a penis!!

Sorry for all the anger, but I was just let go and they said I didn't "fit". That is such BS. I was told I have "too much initiative". They didn't even try to make it work. They had 90 days to evaluate me.

Sorry, but your attitude is showing. You say "they didn't even try to make it work." well did you try to make it work? And saying the state is shaped like a penis is unbecoming and juvenile.

Good luck up north.
