We bought in North Port and couldn`t be happier even though we are seasonal residents we just love it . Your far enough away from the high tourist area yet close enough to beaches (20-30) Minutes . All the the shopping you need and close by , only 7 minutes from Port Charlotte mall . You should check it out and decide for your self . Best of luck .

I lived in Bradenton for 11 years during my 30's. There was always something to do for the young also. We spent a lot of time at the Beach during the winter"snowbird" season. LOL. Now the day has come where my husband and I are considered "snowbirds" and over 55. We can't wait. Just remember you all will be there one of these days. LOL. You can gain alot by them. Learn the times they are out and about and have a great winter.

Bordered by US41 and 776 to the east, the Gulf of Mexico to the west, the Circus Bridge to the north, and Englewood to the south. Hope that gives you a clearer idea of South Venice.

Jacaranda is not a part of South Venice. Anything east of 41 or 776 is not a part of South Venice.

What distinguishes South Venice from any other part of Venice is really that it is not hooked up to county water and sewer. It is the only area of Venice that is not on public utilities.

It's an older section that was, in the past, a stable area with working class families until the housing fiasco came into play.

The area has a large number of rentals. And since most landlords live out of state, the quality of some of the people renting is lackluster, and sometimes dangerous. High numbers of addicted people. It is a shame, but some houses are lovingly cared for, and others look like junkyards. It was a safe and quiet area to live in, up until about 7-8 years ago. Hopefully, some day it will experience a renaissance. Until then, I would not buy in South Venice.

its kind of hard to judge a town when only driving thru once or twice. the areas we have seen in north port are pretty nice. condsider the value due to the house prices dropping and its a great deal. my kids have played football at the highschool field and we have found the people friendly. it is far from the boonies that some might think that it is. the stores are all new and clean. due to ordinances the roads are not cluttered with signs like one finds on tamiami from osprey and north. from what we have experienced it is younger families. the homes on the whole are well kept. i havent seen the starbucks and five star restaurants like the big city has but then this is not the big city and the main reason that most if not all buy here.

another thing to look at is the crime and arrest maps. you cant see sarasota thru all the dots on the map. scroll down to venice, englewood and north port and there are substantially less dots.

I live in South Venice (in a community) and I have county water and sewer. I bought my house 3 years ago and just moved down permanently this past May. High number of addicted people? Well have not witnessed that. True that outside of the gated communities some homes look nice while others are not kept up. I really think this could happen in anywhere.

Both my husband and I are in out late 40's and could not be happier.

Without being too specific...where is your house located? I know of no homes in South Venice being hooked up to water and sewer.
