Well, it certainly is a lot better than it was just a month ago. That's for sure. I got into my car today and the outside temperature only read 88. There were times in August it read over 100 if I parked in a sunny spot. 44% sounds very low, but I remember we had a few days of very dry weather and it varies from one area to another. So to be fair, I just checked both Sarasota and Bradenton and the forecast for this evening is pretty similar to Charlotte County. Low 72, humidity 86%. Currently 84 (feels like 89) 65% humidity, dew point 71. No complaints now, but tonight I'll probably be sticking my head in the freezer again!

I'm not planning to shut my a/c off for quite awhile. It is very humid at night and in the a.m. No breeze at all. I'm told it's all about the dewpoint, that wicked dewpoint. I was in WalMart this aft, and they have the GLOVES and BOOTS on display. C'mon ! that is nuts.

We've had our A/C off for 9 days now and LOVING it. Hopefully won't need to turn it back on this year. No more $200 electric bills! :-)

Yes it is all about the dew point. The relative humidity isn't what makes you feel gross, rather it's the dew point (and the combination of temperature & dew point).

Relative humidity is merely a ratio of absolute water vapor content in the air vs. the maximum amount of water vapor that could be in the air at the current temperature. The relative humidity could be 100%, but if it's 30* outside you won't feel sticky. I almost wish TV weather broadcasts would stop using relative humidities, as they are useless for the average viewer.

Dew point is a solely a measure of the absolute water vapor content in the air. Generally, dew points 76* and higher are downright disgusting, 72-76 is muggy, 68-72 is still humid, 64-68 is acceptable, 60-64 is refreshing, and in the 50s is crisp, clean, Canadian air!

Many people are hypersensitive to high humidity/dewpoint; and for them, it is not healthy.

leetchy-That's really good to know about the dew point. I've looked into it further and your ranges seem to be pretty accurate.

Broke down and turned the A/C back on today . Sweating while working (at a desk) is no fun... It was nice while it lasted.
