Marina Info Charlotte Sarasota Area (Deltona, Port Charlotte: rentals, how much, motel)

Hi,

Wife and I moving to our home in North Port this month. Avid boater up here in Connecticut looking forward to a long boating season in Fla. I realize North port is not on the water - my wife has a horse so she ended up winning that debate. Sold my Sea Ray a while back and been looking for boats in Fla everyday. Obvious choice would be a boat I can trailer but just curious as to how much dockage on a boat down there would be. I saw a great deal on a 30 foot Sea Ray. Its a steal at the asking price.
Anyone have an idea what slip rental on a boat like that would be? Probably way out of my price range but just curious. Thanks, Mike

Eldred's Marina
Turn onto the Boca Grande Causeway and Eldred's is one of the finest things you see. They have a small ship's store and bait available, and lots of local charm! Located at 6301 Boca Grande Causeway by car, and right next to the Boca Grande Swing Bridge by boat.

Uncle Henry's Marina
Turn south between Intracoastal Markers 21 and 22 near the swing bridge and follow the channel markers, located and the north end of the island, Docking arrangements made by calling ahead of channel 16. Fuel, boat rentals, bait, boat tours, plus a motel and shops.

Inn Marina
Located at 891 E. Eight St. in Boca Grande. From the north look for Intracoastal Marker 4 and 5. From the south, look for Marker No. 2. Coming from the south, boaters have to go under the golf course bridge that has a 16- foot clearance at normal tide.

7090 Placida Road, Cape Haze, next to Gulfwind Marine at Palm Island, home of Sea Ray and Boston Whaler. The marina is a full-sales and service facility, and features two restaurants and a heated pool with a hot tub. The marina also has dry storage up to 50 feet.

$13/ft/month is the going rate around Punta Gorda, but my guess is that Sarasota would be even more. Last time I checked with marinas closer to the ICW, it was in the $16-18 per ft, per month range. Right around $6,000/yr for my 32 footer. Insane. And that is for a wet slip, NOT a lift. You can get in/out rack storage for boats up to 35ft at most marinas and save some cash. Plus you won't have to have the bottom scraped for barnicles twice a year.
