Round-a-bout on Venice ave?
Anyone heard about the projected round-a-bout at Venice Ave and Jacaranda? What do you think?

Round about on Venice ave?
I guess what I mean is why? I go through there every morning and not sure that is really needed there. They also call them Rotory's , up north, but only when you need the traffic to keep flowing. I never sat too long at that traffic light.

There was an article in the Sarasota herald yesterday about the county wanting to put a round-a-bout at that intersection but the city doesn't want it but apparently the county has jurisdiction there so they might have to go to arbitration. I have noticed the traffic getting worse but I don't think its that bad for such drastic measures.

Bradenton tried to put one of those in a few years ago. Not a very good idea, and glad it never happened. Too much traffic at Venice Ave. & Jacaranda for that kind of nonsense.
They had one where I used to live in SC just to get out of the parking lot at the grocery store. It wasn't even out on the actual road.

I say NO! They put some up here in NH and the places they put them in now the traffic is much worse!
My dad lives in Venice so I know how bad traffic is there, I personally think it will make traffic much worse.
This is the "new thing" all these city planners up here in NH are "impressed" by this new style round about that they are using in Europe. It is really just the old type traffic circle except that they landscape it a little better and it is modified a little.

If they put that round a bout in, it is going to be a nightmare. How many snowbirds do we see every year that drive through the front of pharmacies and the like because they hit the wrong pedal ?? Too many for my liking. The snowbirds are going to use that traffic circle for a smash up derby track. It will increase accidents and bottleneck the area IMO.
