I go to Le Esperanza in Port Charlotte with friends, but I still prefer to make my own.

La Esperanza Restaurant Port Charlotte, FL, 33948 - YP.com

I like Moe's Southwest Grill too. They give you a free meal on your birthday. That is more of a fast food type mexican rest, but not like Taco Bell. I think of it more like a Subway.

Taco Bell beats 'em all around Tampa IMO. That's bc many say they are Mexican but are actually Puerto Rican, total different beans, salsa...

i can't imagine why a Puerto Rican restaurant would claim to be Mexican. I don't think it would happen.

Taco Bell doesn't count.

also, being from NY we have a large Puerto Rican population also Mexican and Dominican, Columbian and Ecuadorian but...wouldn't the larger population here be Cuban?

I need to start investigating Cuban food! i bet it's great How about suggestions for that?

Le Esperanza is the best we have had so far too. I did meet a friend in December up by Lakewood Ranch and we ate at El Lago Ranchero- I think it was OK, but I truly didn't pay much attention to the food since we were gabbing away after not seeing each other for more than a year....

We really liked El Paso on Clark, but I think it closed down. Another good one is El Toro Bravo, but there is ALWAYS a wait. I know a lot of people disagree, but I like Two Senoritas. What ever you do, do not go to El Adobe. It's horrible. We went to Two Amigos and I really liked it, but the wife didn't. So I guess we will not be going back.

I like Mi Pueblo on University Parkway. Delicious chips and salsa, plus they even have a separate organic vegan menu for those so inclined.

Yea, El Adobe is horrible, and I don't consider it "Mexican" at all.

I'll agree with Mi Pueblo. Good food and service.

I like the Mi Pueblo in Venice. The one on Bee Ridge has horrible service. Probably the reason we do not go there is they do not have a kid's menu.
