Coming for our looksee in 3 weeks!

We are staying on Siesta Key and would like to know where are places the locals go. I would like to avoid the tourist type places. (we'll do Sharky's later in the week )

Thanks!

Old Salty Dog is where a local took me for lunch last time I visited. It was a nice place to eat outside. I don't know if it is usually considered a tourist spot or not.

It's Siesta Key, everything is a tourist trap. That being said, try SKOB and Daiquiri Deck and The Cottage and Blue Smoke. And don't forget the Broken Egg for breakfast. Captain Curt's down by the Stickney Point Bridge is pretty good too. Down at the southern end of the island there is Turtle's

Blasé Café is a neat little restaurant. I've also heard The Cottage is very good, although I haven't made it there yet. For breakfast I like the Sun Garden Café or Broken Egg.

Everything on Siesta is NOT a tourist trap.

The Cottage has food infinitely better than the decor would suggest.

Gabbiano Restaurant and Wine Bar is excellent.

Bella Roma has the best eggplant anywhere in the area.

Even The Lobster Pot has a few selections that can satisfy.

Not a fan of the food at Blase Cafe, but the martinis are excellent.

Salty Dog, Village Cafe for breakfast (Broken Egg has lousy coffee), Lobster Pot is good, Gabbiano's is good and we like Turtles.

As a resident of Siesta Key I have tried every restaurant, there are some great ones, and in my opinion ones to avoid which are just tourist traps, Gilligan's being one of them

The Cottage is a great restaurant and they have good happy hour offers on week days, the ceviche is particularly good as the chef is from Peru.

If you fancy a different kind of coffee head to Lu's Lu's coffee shop, village cafe is also good for breakfast

The Hub may not be open as CHris had a major fire not so long ago, but I hear he's trying to get the place back up and running as soon as possible, so it could be reopen when you come down

If you fancy lunch, the village gourmet does some great authentic NY Bagels, and many great offers, the soup is pretty good as well.

If you are looking for Chinese takeout, there is a place by Publix which is closest to the north bridge....by far the best yet.

If you're looking for more restaurants southside village is great, my personal fav is Libby's, a great selection of food at reasonable prices and options of small and large plates, southside deli etc

Also so many great restaurants in the downtown area

Have a great time on Siesta!

The Hub
The Cottage
Siesta Key Oyster Bar

The Boatyard (just over the south bridge)

PS Tourists and locals have to eat at a restaurant for it to survive in this extremely competative market.
