Hotel for Sarasota Exploration Trip (Laurel: condos, homes, neighborhoods)

We are going to be heading down to Sarasota the middle of April to spend some time evaluating Sarasota, specifically the Laurel Park and Bayfront neighborhoods.....neigborhoods that were recommended to me in a different post. Can any locals recommend a hotel that is close proximity of those areas? The realtor we are meeting with recommended the Ritz and Hotel Indigo, just wanted to double check on whether you'll thought that would make sense.

Our eventual plan is to purchase a second home in this or the St. Pete area.....we will be up up in St. Pete a week before our trek down.

I second the Hotel Indigo or the Ritz Carlton.

Your realtor should be able to get you a deal at the Hyatt through SAR, which is the Sarasota Association of Realtors. I managed to get a room for $149 there recently and it's a stone throw from the Ritz. I've stayed at both and felt the service was better at the Hyatt.

At you only looking at condos or would you consider single family homes as well? The area around Southside village is also worth a look, it has a very nice atmosphere and is close to downtown
