We a considering a move from California and one of the positives is the hope that our relatives scattered throughout the country would visit often. Of course, they would be coming to see us, but a great location is a nice added bonus So you find this to be the case? We are thinking about homes with small guest houses in the back, things like that. Thanks!

A guest house would be perfect. YES we do get a lot of visits from our out of state relatives. Wish I'd have thought about the guest house! Just kidding......

We had a lot of visitors when we first moved to Florida, but now it is mostly just relatives. The novelty wears off after awhile and people want to take their vacations other places too.

Yeah the moment I said I was moving to Florida all my relatives seemed to think that it was a party every night at my place.

If they only come when you live in FL, it shows your value to them

You need to be very careful about this or your house will turn into the Holiday Inn very quickly.

Growing up in Myrtle Beach, not relatives but friends of friends and everyone in their brother wanted to come stay with me.

You need to start practicing this line, "I'm so glad you are coming to Sarasota! Let us know what hotel you are staying in and we'll make arrangements to meet up!".

Having a lot of company can be very draining.

We have my stepson, his fiance and 4 kids coming for a week. They will be here the day before Easter. Luckily we have enough sleeping room for all 6 of them. I just have to plan meals and activities. Thank heaven we have the pool, a ping pong table and some outdoor games too. I am sure we will head to the beach a couple of days. I have some options for the kids, just waiting to see what they want to do.

That's what my father-in-law always said!! So we try to stay only 3 days or less when we visit anyone. Of course, when we lived in FL, we would have some guests stay 2 weeks. 2 LONG!!

We were quite popular when we moved to Florida years ago. Not that relatives didn't visit us before but let's face it, it was a vacation destination. I think my parent's enjoyed having relatives stay in our home and it was pretty fun for me as a teen. Once I moved to palm beach as an adult, that all changed. LOL. I value my privacy so I always suggest hotels or resorts for out of town guests. If you set up your boundaries early, they'll get the message.
