Possibly moving to the Sarasota/Bradenton area. What are some safe, well kept neighborhoods with house prices ranging from $150,000 to $225,000? I'd like to get a boat and be able to keep it on my property. Thanks!

Here are some homes not listed in a subdivision that indicate RV/boat parking on site – MLS #A3956381, #A3929362, #M5828259, #M5826766, #A3957357

Some communities have an RV/boat storage lot and some homes do allow RV/boat storage on the property. Here are some current communities that list as RV/boat storage.

Akin Acres, Angus Acres, Brookside, DeSoto Lakes, DeSoto Acres, Fairway Acres, Forest Lakes South, Ilexhurst, Lake Sarasota, Le Chalet, Orange Grove Park, Palm Aire, Palmer Farms, Rio Vista, Riverdale, Rustic Lodge, San Remo Shores, South Gate, Waterbury, Whitfield Country Club.

Some of the older part of Palm Aire is not deed restricted, such as Desoto Lakes Country Club (zip code 34243) and the 1980's built Palm Aire. It's a nice area of well kept homes built in the 1970's and early 80's. Larger lots. Some back up to the golf course.

Desoto Acres is a neighborhood of homes on 1 - 5 acre lots in north Sarasota, near University Parkway. Unless the homes need a lot of work, they usually are priced above $225k. You also have to watch there - some of the homes are still on well water and cannot hook up to the county water. Desoto Lakes is mainly homes priced under $150,000 so not sure if that's the type of neighborhood you're searching for. Standards there are definitely more "relaxed."

If you like older, ranch style homes from the 60's - 70's, the Forest Lakes Country Club, Forest Lakes Country Club East and South Gate areas are an option. These would be zip codes 34231 and 34239, south of Bahia Vista & north of Bee Ridge, running mainly from the Beneva Road area to west of Tuttle Ave. This area is known for it's 1960's & 1970's ranch style homes with larger yards. You're close to Arlington Park with it's pools and recreational facilities (playground, gym, basketball & raquetball courts, tennis courts, walking trail), plus home owners in the actual South Gate neighborhood can join the voluntary HOA & pay just under $100 a year to have access to the community center and pool. The area is also a reasonably close drive to the north Siesta Key bridge and one of the area malls. Nearer to Arlington Park you'll find a mixture of home styles -- ranch, cottage, bungalow and 50's Modern styles. Most of this area does not have deed restrictions or HOAs.

Just east of I 75, south off of Bee Ridge is Lake Sarasota. Lake Sarasota has a mixture of 60's thru new homes, but most were built in the 1980's and have the more modern floor plans with split bedrooms and master suites with walk-in closets. The larger yards, reasonable prices (mainly mid $150's range) and good school districts are what make this neighborhood popular.

Forest Lakes South is another option south of Bee Ridge & east of Proctor (34233) with 1980's built ranch style homes with nice sized yards.

There are a number of nicer, non deed restricted neighborhoods in NW Bradenton too. These would fall into zip codes 34209 and 34210. Westwoods, Fairway Acres, Harbour Shores, Willow Woods, Shore Acre Heights and Sagamore Estates would be some to check. Homes are mostly built in the 1960's and 1970's. Bonus of NW Bradenton is that you would also be closer to the water and boat ramps.

I'm sure I can think of some more neighborhoods, but these will get you started.

Regal oaks has very low HOA fees, and people do keep boats in their driveways. People have great pride in their propery and are very friendly. We moved here a few years ago and love it--good schools, very close to University Parkway, nice shopping, dining. It's a bit of a hidden subdivision, very small. Some older people, some middle aged. Homes were built in 03...
