Rushmore, I like the way you think! Not so much the Foie Gras as all I can think of are my duck/geese buddies that I fed at my last house, but one of my "vices" is caviar and, unfortunately, not the less expensive American varieties. Have you tried the caviar from Mote Marine? I am curious about it. I need to put that on my list for the "hurricane stash"...lol!

If you have a land phone line, make sure you find an old rotary phone. The electric ones do not work if you lose power.

If there is any possibility of getting hit with a storm, start washing clothes, towels, sheets, long before it hits. If the power goes out, you want to have enough clean stuff to last at least a week. If there is no A/C, you're going to be sweating through clothes quickly. And trying to keep kids clean and dry is not easy- lol.

If you can afford it, buy a generator. Have a licensed electrician do the power connection for a good sized one. Even a smallish generator may give you enough power to run a couple of lights and A/C in one room.

Don't forget to keep plenty of cash on hand. No power, ATM's etc won't work. Stores will deal only in cash if they have limited generator power and their cash register machines are down.
